Banabila & Machinefabriek – Error Log Mastering

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]For the mastering of the new Banabila & Machinefabriek collaboration I was asked to do the mastering. The request was mainly add some clarity and depth in the mixes which I set out to do, amongst some other things.

Released 14 May 2015 on Tapu Records ℗ 2015 http://banabila.bandcamp.com/album/error-log[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The entire Error Log album is first passed through tape to add some nice harmonics in the higher frequencies.
The signal chain that follows is :
A Sonnox denoiser tape reduce the introduced tape hiss, Fabfilter Pro MB set up to emphasize the lower mids and upper mids, a ddmf 6144 EQ for a smiley curve ( enhancing the low end and high end with in this case a shelf eq of 1.2 dB), an Elysia Alpha Master Vsti set to m/s, sides compressing more then the mid channel, with ratios of 1.2 for the mid and 1.5 for the sides.
A reverb is added over the entire mix to add some more space at certain points. The reverb chain is an chorus (Audio Damage Fluid)  set with very low wet settings, an instance of EAReverb, steinberg’s magneto II for saturation, and an Elysia mpressor set for sidechain compression to remove all transients and keep the original mix upfront. The reverb channel is volume automated to be added when needed. Limiting in the end is only used to boost the overall volume and doesn’t do any limiting. The overall loudnes is a very comfortable -17 Lufs.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
